Sigh...
My first batch of terracotta and recycled clay test tiles came out of the kiln yesterday, and I sighed at the immediately obvious importance of making them and the endless possibilities for future sample tiles. The next batch of ivory stoneware test tiles are now in the kiln.
After making two extruded coil pots on Thursday with ivory stoneware clay based on the thread wrapping I'm concurrently doing, I experimented on Friday with a very fine mesh sieve using recycled clay. The results were less successful but I shall try again, and try harder NOT to make vessels!

While I am drawn to make larger free-form sculptural objects, the temptation to make vessels is strong as I have a passion for understated, organic Japanese tea bowls. I have been trying to understand form and glazes/oxides at the same time through making small vessels as tests, but five emerged from the kiln yesterday and only one of them (below) was subtle enough to satisfy me.
